About your team

It takes effective thinking and strong business acumen to analyse complex Retail data to ensure stress test models are working in the manner expected.

The RBS Stress testing team (within the wider Risk Analytics & Reporting Team) provides this service to RBS Risk Management supporting a diverse set of stakeholders across both Group Risk and the Retail business.

About your role

The role will report into the Senior Manager Stress Testing, this role is within one of the fastest growing and critical areas of the bank – stress testing – in the context of retail banking credit risk.

Stress Testing Scenario Analysis and related modelling are expected to gain even more prominence in the future. The job entails working to distil risk information from the analysis of stress testing results, and applying quantitative / data science techniques to derive tangible implications for business lines and the group.

The results of stress testing analysis would also feed into internal risk appetite / limit setting process and hence successful candidate would be expected to further integrate stress testing results with business decision making process.

What will your impact be?

  • Intimate involvement in the end-to-end stress testing processes for RBS Risk Management, including the annual internal stress test, the half-yearly profit announcement stress test, and the APRA led industry stress test
  • Delivery of APRA or internal stress testing results including analysis and preparation of materials for senior management; This will include review, analysis and analytics of results presented
  • Production of stress testing presentation packs/documentations and manage relationships with Group Stress Testing and RBS Finance teams
  • Development and maintenance of quantitative tools to analyse stress testing results for the group and present the results of the analysis to senior management and the Board

  • University degree in a numerical discipline including, but not limited to, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics
  • Experience in one or more analytical programming tool – tools used in the team include SAS, Teradata SQL, and R
  • Working with large datasets – the ability to manipulate, summarise, and visualise complex datasets.
  • Advanced analytics skills – leveraging quantitative analytics and data science techniques, to interrogate data and recognise patterns, anomalies, or statistical trends in complex data to generate actionable value-add insights.
  • Some experience with retail advanced internal rating based (AIRB) Regulatory Capital models (PD/LGD/EAD), RWA, loan loss provisioning, retail credit risk or portfolio analytics would be advantageous but not a prerequisite.
  • Macroeconomic modelling, stress testing and scenario analysis experience across key risk types (market risk, credit risk and operational risk) within the context of capital planning would be advantageous.
