Your Business:

Business and Private Banking manages relationships with Commonwealth Bank’s small-medium enterprise (SME) customers, mid-market corporate customers, and its regional and agribusiness customers, providing a wide range of financial services and solutions. It also services our personal and institutional online trading customers, and provides service, advice and opportunities to our high-net-worth personal customers through Commonwealth Private.

Your Team:

Business Lending is responsible for providing market leading commercial lending and asset finance products and processes to customers and relationship teams across both the business bank. Our team manages a portfolio of $70B of lending assets and contributes almost $1.4B in revenue to the Group annually.

Business Lending products range from high volume / low complexity offerings through to low volume / high complexity offerings. The business operates in a dynamic environment and we offer a broad range of opportunities for employees to continue to build on their skills and develop their careers in new and interesting directions.

Commercial Lending Process Innovation are accountable for our end to end process and procedures. We are the business owners of the digital Product & Process Library (PPL) platform which houses all procedures and policies for Business Private Bank

Your impact & contribution:

This role is responsible for leading/contributing to large, strategic initiatives for Commercial Lending and BPB. The first project you will work with will be the Banking Code of Practice.

You will be required to deliver/lead specific work stream or defined scope within a wider program, create/manage project deliverables and support resolution of issues and risks. You will Leverage methodology to develop & apply pragmatic solutions that are fit for purpose and create/manage project governance process with associated reporting tasks .

You will report to the Director Commercial Lending Process Governance & Portfolio Management with a dotted line to the Project Lead for programs you will be working on.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively drive team to leverage existing methodologies and to provide pragmatic solutions
  • Assist in building a culture where everybody drives continuous improvement
  • Deliver on the Commercial Lending / Business Customer Solutions strategy through delivering specific programs of work or projects the first being Banking Code of Practice
  • Gather and assess large amounts of information from various sources and co-ordinate the analysis required for projects.
  • Mobilise, plan and execute projects that are of strategic importance to Commercial Lending 
  • Foster strong relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across BPB and other business units Identify issues/risks to the timely execution of work stream deliverables and/or project deliverables
  • Manage issue resolution process across work stream or project deliverables and escalate as appropriate
  • Ensure the project adheres to business analysis methodologies and standards, including appropriate documentation and controls
  • Report work stream/project progress against agreed business outcomes
  • Report, attend and contribute to Project Governance meetings / Sprint meetings
  • Ensure engagement and alignment of work stream/project stakeholders across BPB and Group
  • In work steam/project lead role, coach more junior team members
  • Provide handover documents to allow for delivery.
  • Produce packs and papers for governance forums, minutes and actions Work with the risk team to develop control measures & plans
  • Collaboration with the Product & Process Library team to ensure the appropriate knowledge management approach when scoping, reviewing, simplifying, implementing and embedding changes to procedures.
  • Engagement with Process Governance team to ensure all changes are made in alignment with the Process Governance Framework, we have up to date documentation and do not weaken our end to end control environment
  • Identification of CCL system changes and engagement with the CCL Product Owner to scope, cost and schedule (if appropriate) technical changes
  • Act as a role model by consistently displaying leadership behaviours that encourages a strong performance culture and productive working relationships

Your experience and qualifications: 

  • 5 years+ work experience in a project, consulting or operational capacity
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing projects (E2E) or components of larger strategic initiatives
  • Ability to create solutions that are fit for purpose whilst leveraging methodologies & frameworks
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Initiative-taking and ability to work effectively at multiple levels in the organisation
  • Ability to work effectively in unstructured environments with high levels of ambiguity
  • Excellent communication, presentation as well as strong influencing and collaboration skills
  • Can work efficiently under time pressure and delivery results & outcomes
  • Leadership skills and a desire to grow people
  • Product, risk, compliance and regulatory experience is highly desirable.
  • A propensity to work collaboratively, deliver outcomes and dive below surface level detail will put you in good step for the job.
